You might have noticed a new tab to click on near the top of the page labeled “Games of the Month”. Right up there. See it? Good, I’m really proud of you. If you give it a nice, gentle click, you’ll be directed to a page that shows you what games I’ve played in whatever month it is.
I plan to update regularly, so if you see a game missing from the month you see, I most likely haven’t played it. This will give all of you a chance to see what I’ve played, and help me fix any glaring omissions that I need to play with my hands, eyes, and/or mouth.
Reversely, feel free to use it as a guide to a bunch of stuff you might have never heard of before. I’ve already heard from one person that they hadn’t heard of five of the games in my top ten of 2012. That’s like…half of them.
So if you’re into games, see something unfamiliar and want to give it a try, be my guest! Just because that list says I’ve played it doesn’t mean that it is good though. I can’t guarantee that I can do a write-up for every single game I play this year, but I’ll do my best to get a few thoughts on the site in one way or another.
I’ve been tossing a few ideas around of how exactly the GotM (that’s a terrible acronym) feature is going to work. At the end of every month, I’d like to pick a top three from that month (if I played that many, or if that many games even came out. I’m looking at you, September) and recognize the best group of games every 30 days or so. Like I said, and as with everything on HippoChippies, it’s still an idea in development. If you have any ideas on how to make it work a little better, please let me know!
As always, I thank all of you for reading the site and keeping me interested enough in it to try new things like this. I hope you look forward to seeing what might come next! I don’t have a clue what it’ll be, so I’m looking forward to it too.
